Scissors: Where to Find Them & Unlock the Cutter

Use crates and panels as the main search targets

Search inhabited locations for crates and compatible panels. A panel containing Scissors uses the Robo-Arm removal method, while a loose pair is collected by hand. Loose pickups are rare, so include containers and accessible panels in the route.

Scissors weigh 0.2 and have maximum part durability 100. Once you collect them, the Cutter recipe unlock is the immediate progression benefit. Open the recipe to separate the ingredients you still need from the part you just found.

Turn the unlock into a gathering tool

A Cutter opens useful gathering interactions for Wires, Rubber, Fabric, Cardboard and Foam. Decide which material you need next, then prepare the tool before starting that route.

Jaws unlock the same recipe when picked up. Use whichever of the two you find first to progress; an upgrade comparison can wait until you have an alternative available. A recipe unlock does not by itself craft or repair the tool.

Compare Scissors and Jaws on the correct tool

Scissors add 5 damage to the Cutter and 12 to the Thumper. Jaws have the higher bonus on both, at the same listed weight, but Scissors remain a compatible choice when that is the part you have.

Neither bonus guarantees more resources from a gathering object. Use the correct interaction and keep the receiving tool in working condition.

Carry the maintenance materials for the next job

For Cutter repairs, keep 2 Aluminum and 1 Plastic available and sharpen the blade when dull. For a Thumper run, reserve 2 Metal and 1 Plastic for repairs and use its manual winding action when needed. Neither tool relies on battery cells for those upkeep actions.
