The relevant environment is a hollow asteroid containing Alkaline Mole burrows. Search loose pickups and crates in that interior. Both are rare sources of Leather bags, so reaching a burrow is a search opportunity rather than a guaranteed reward.

A loose bag is collected directly. Do not spend Spraytron charge on the bag itself: the Spraytron is for compatible Alkali gathering interactions in the same type of area. Keep the two jobs separate when deciding which tools to bring.

Give the burrow trip a material budget

If you need both Alkali and a machine upgrade, combine the search with your planned material run. Carry Alkaline solution for Spraytron charge, reserve oxygen for leaving the interior, and leave weight for the return haul. The Leather bag itself weighs 2.

When the bag is your only remaining objective, compare the detour with a container you already own. A rare alternative is less urgent than the food and oxygen needed to return from its search area.
